Originally founded in 1993 by Shagrath, Silenoz, and Tjodalv Dimmu Borgir is a symphonic black metal band from Norway. "Dimmu Borgir" literally means "Dark Castles/Fortresses" in archaic Icelandic ("Dark Cities" in modern usage).
