What is MyMusicLists?
MyMusicLists is a collection of visitor created music lists categorized by list type and made available for you to edit and add to as you see fit. Click here to view our entire collection of lists and begin adding your input to MyMusicLists.

How do you determine the order of the lists?
Non-sponsored items in a list are ordered according to the number of votes each item receives. The more votes an item has, the higher it appears in the list. If there are no sponsored items in a list, then the item with the most votes is in the number one spot, the items with the second most votes is in the number two spot, and so on. Sponsored listing always appear at the top of a list.
When a list is first created, the number one item on the list is assigned the most votes, the number two items is assigned one fewer votes and so on. Once the list is posted, other visitors can add votes to items on the list. Items will then move up and down the list according to the number of times the item has been voted on. That way, the most popular items will move to the top of the list while less popular items will be pushed down.
How do I vote for an item in a list?
Simply go to the list page and click the vote button next to the item you want to vote for.
Can I vote an item down the list or take votes away from an item?
You cannot vote against an item in a list. If you feel that a particular item is ranked too high, then add your vote to another item in order to move it up. Items are ranked where they are because of the number of people who have voted on them. Just because you think an item should be ranked lower doesn't mean that your opinion is that of the majority.
That said, if there is an item on a list that is not appropriate for that list, you can send us a message stating why you feel the item should be removed. Please explain why the item should be removed and if possible, provide some evidence supporting your claim. Requests to remove an item that merely consist of "This doesn't go here. Whoever did this is a moron", tend to get glossed over.
How do I add a new list to MyMusicLists?
To add a new list, click here and enter the name of your list in the List Name field. You should enter a list name that tells people what types of items are in your list. For example, a list of the most awesome British rock bands could be called “Best British Rock Bands”.
After naming your list, you can enter an optional list description. The list description is used to further explain the items in your list or to define the types of items that are appropriate for your list.
Then enter your items in the provided text boxes. For each item, you can also add a URL where visitors can go to learn more about the items and comments that further describe why you feel the item belongs on the list. You don't have to add items for every blank spot, but the more items you add, the more "popular" your list will become, and it will appear more frequently during relevant searches.
When you are finished filling out the form, click the Add List button to submit your list for approval.
I added or suggested a new list. When will it show up on the site?
We will add a new list to the site after we have had a chance to look through and approve the list, any items in the list and any comments about those items. The amount of time this takes depends on a number of factors including the amount of time it takes to verify the accuracy of content and the number of lists awaiting approval.
What are some reasons why my list would be rejected?
At MyMusicLists, we reserve the right to edit or reject any submissions as we see fit, however, we generally try to manage the lists with a more hands off approach. Some reasons why your submissions may have been edited or rejected include typos, poor grammar, inaccuracies, profanity and other objectionable content. Spammy lists will also be deleted since nobody wants to read a list where every item is a link to pictures of someone's kitten. And finally, if we feel your list is a duplication of a list that is already on the site, we may add your items to the existing list instead of creating a new list.
How do I add a new item to a list?
Registered and logged in members have the option to click on an Add New Item link at the bottom of the list page. Click the Add New Item button, fill out the form, and submit your item for approval.

We will your new item after we have had a chance to make sure that it is appropriate for the list and that any associated comments are acceptable. The amount of time this takes depends on a number of factors including the amount of time it takes to verify the accuracy of content and the number of other items awaiting approval.
What are some reasons why my item would be rejected?
Items may also be edited or rejected depending on their content. Items may also be rejected if they do not logically belong in a list. We aren't going to approve a Fender Stratocaster submission for a "Most Beautiful Singers" list.
How do I add comments to an item on a list?
After you vote on a particular item in a list, you will be given the option to add comments supporting your vote. Enter your comments and click the Add New Comment button to submit your comments for approval.
I added a comment to an item on a list. When will it show up on the site?
Users who are logged in to the site will have their comments added immediately and then reviewed at a later time. If you are not logged in, we will add your new comments after we have had a chance to make sure that they are appropriate for this site. The amount of time this takes depends on the number of other items awaiting approval.
What are some reasons why my comment would be rejected?
Comments on MyMusicLists are for the purpose of making a case for an item in a list. Negative comments about an item, even if it is the item that the comment was not left for, will not be displayed on the site. In addition, comments that contain profane language, are not relevant to the item, are close duplicates to existing comments, contain excessive spelling errors, or otherwise do not contribute to the "discussion" will not be approved.
Why would I want to register on MyMusicLists?
Honestly, why wouldn't you? Registering for MyMusicLists allows you to add your name to your comments and to any lists you create, grant you automatic approvals on your comments, and allow you to add new items to existing lists. In addition, registered members who create a new list will have a page created for them that displays the lists they have created and any comments that have been attributed to them.
